DND WIRENEWS (6Jan98) - Burbank, CA -- The Walt Disney Company has announced that it is immediately recalling all copies of _George of the Jungle_ in laser disc, DVD, and video tape formats, and removing all scenes where George is seen crashing into trees. In a prepared statement, Buena Vista executive T G Culpepper said that the deletion of the scenes was due to the unfortunate spate of imitative behavior being witnessed in recent weeks, specifically citing Michael Kennedy and Sonny Bono as two examples. Culpepper noted that such a move is not unusual for Disney. In 1993, Disney removed a scene in the Touchstone picture _The Program_ depicting several ESU students lying down on a busy highway. Disney also modified some musical lyrics allegedly defaming to Arabs in the movie _Aladdin_ in its video release. When asked, Culpepper declined to speculate on the cost of such a recall to the Disney company. 06Jan98 - DND WIRENEWS - "ALL DISNEY NEWS FITTED TO PRINT" *** EOT ***
